Non-Medical Switching (Forced Switch)
Also called: forced switch, forced switching
Non-medical switching happens when a plan pressures you to change from a treatment that is working to a different one for reasons of cost rather than health, often by dropping a drug or raising its tier mid-year. Patients who are stable on a therapy can face setbacks when forced to switch. A continuity-of-care request or a formulary exception is sometimes the path to keep your current treatment.
