Site-of-Service Review

Site-of-service review is a plan's practice of deciding that a covered procedure must be done at a specific, usually lower-cost location, such as an outpatient center instead of a hospital. If care is delivered somewhere the plan considers unnecessary, it may deny or reduce payment. When your clinical situation requires a particular setting, that justification is the core of a site-of-service appeal.
